March–April 2026 Newsletter

Dear Friends,

Our 2026 season kicked off with the fifth lecture by Professor Emeritus Patrick Barbier, who has been with us since our very first event on May 4, 2024, much to the delight of the Geneva public. During his lecture on February 5 on “Vivaldi’s Venice,” he introduced us to the customs and traditions prevalent in the Venetian Republic at the beginning of the18th century. This knowledge allowed us to better understand the environment that influenced the various compositions of the “red-haired priest.” The tragic end of his life stood in stark contrast to his flamboyant Venetian period and did not fail to move us all.

We were pleased to share with you a glowing review of this concert on the Italian blog “Musica e parole,” which was also shared on social media (Facebook and Instagram), highlighting the quality of our performances. You can find it at the link below: Vivaldi and the True Baroque Venice.

Our next event will take place on Thursday, April 23, at 6:30 p.m., in the GAMMAH Hall. We are pleased to host a lecture dedicated to the nine operas that Gioachino Rossini during his stay in Naples. Swiss musicologist Paul-André Demierre will highlight the musical and stylistic characteristics that define Rossini’s works from this Neapolitan period. The presentation will be enhanced with audio and video clips, delivered through our exceptional Hi-Fi system, which provides a truly “premium” listening experience at each of our events. Registration for the lecture and the dinner reception with the speaker is open via email reply or through the link below: Rossini Naples – registration.

Finally, we are pleased to confirm that our third consecutive masterclass with the renowned American mezzo-soprano Jennifer Larmore will take place from October 4 to 7, 2026. The participants’ final concert, which is open to the public and free of charge, will be held on Thursday, October 8, 2026. We are delighted to welcome Ms. Larmore, who is also a member of our honorary committee, to lead this new session.

We are proud to continue our commitment to passing on the excellence of opera to future generations, thereby contributing to the preservation and promotion of an art form that is part of the world’s cultural heritage.

We look forward to seeing you again at one of our upcoming events and wish you a very happy Easter.
